The American Legion Amateur Radio Club (TALARC) was formed as a special entity to provide a forum for Legionnaires, Riders, Sons of American Legion,  Auxiliary and their immediate families of any Post engaged in a hobby that can also provide emergency communications "when all else fails."

This Aiken, SC Ham Radio Club is named in honor of PFC William H Kilburn. He was a Radio Telephone Operator (RTO) in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry and a resident of Aiken, SC. Went to High School in Aiken. Served in Vietnam. Was awarded the NAVY COMMENDATION MEDAL for "For Meritorious Service." Unfortunately, he was KIA 2 weeks after receiving the award.
